He lived a long life: as many as 90 years, of which seven decades were filled with labor, a huge amount of work - creative, organizational, pedagogical, which he performed without complaining about the load. Anatoly Bogatyrev was born in the year in Vitebsk in the family of a gymnasium teacher. Father Vasily Dmitrievich was a teacher of Russian literature and language, very respected in the city by the way, Peter Masherov studied from him.

Mother constantly played playing play on, she possessed a lovely soprano, so that songs, romances, arias sounded in the house all the time. They were friends with the Shagalov family, whose son was already a famous Parisian artist and after the revolution returned to his native Vitebsk. On Saturdays, a younger Anatoly on Saturdays often sent shagalov to the house, which Vera forbade to do anything to Shabbat: to help the household, to light up the stove, to put a samovar.

Mark Shagal and Casimir Malevich, in turn, paid visits to the Bogatyreykh house, where it was possible to speculate on art, literature, music. In Vitebsk, in those explosive years, it was relatively satisfying: here there were provisions of warehouses, where food was stored, prepared during the First World War for soldiers. And when people have some kind of piece of bread, it is easier for them to think about high.

If he decided to develop this line of his talent, the beautiful if not a poet, then a prose writer would come out. However, the choice was made in favor of music, and the word, especially poetry, only complemented this choice. Opera, oratorios, kantata - Bogatyrev was a passionate adherent of the vocal genre, a combination of music and words, he wrote more than a hundred romances to verses of various poets, from Shakespeare and Lermontov to Arkady Kuleshov and Constantius Buylo.

Who knows, maybe so the composer tried to resurrect his mother’s voice, extract from the depths of memory and re -realize her bird, singing gift in the sound? One way or another, the next grandiose work of Bogatyrev is the opera “Polesie in the Polesie Forests” according to the story of Yakub Kolas “Drygva”: the heroic adventures of the legendary grandfather Talash, his struggle for the liberation of the West-Belarusian land from the Polish occupation could not but find a response in the heart of the young composer.

They worked together on the libretto with Kolas. True, on the opera stage, grandfather Talash turned into grandfather Taras: this obvious reference to the Gogol Taras Bulba, who also fought with the Poles, added the work of epic. Stalin himself was present in the hall. And praised. Anatoly Bogatyrev received the Stalin Prize of the II in the Thunderstorm. The voice of the era: He, being in fact, a living classic, did not notice this pet.

He was self -critical and did not dream of posthumous glory. But he brilliantly performed other people's works. The best critic for him was his wife Natalya Sergeevna Novitskaya. They met when the girl studied at the vocal department of the conservatory. Her, the daughter of a priest, the widow of the Red Army officer from the neighboring circle of the disgraced Tukhachevsky, wanted to exclude.

Everyone voted for, one Bogatyrev - meek, soft, never raising their voice - against. He took the girl's hand and led him out of the hall, showing his attitude to what was happening. The exception did not take place, but the family took place. Together they lived 33 years. And he did not change anything in the house: everything remained as it was under his beloved Natasha.

Her things lay untouched, as if a wife was invisibly present next to him for many more years, until his death ... a man is educated and formed by the medium. The fish does not think about water - it floats, the bird does not talk about the properties of air - it soars in it naturally. Also, of course, Bogatyrev began to make music. At eight he took the first steps, at eleven he could have acted as an accompanist, at thirteen he entered a music school, where his teacher became Evgenia Shuman, a relative of the German composer Robert Schumann.

Then he began to compose, made sketches to his first opera. Two years of study-and he, as an excellent student, is sent to improve to the capital of the republic, at the Minsk Music School, where he studies, combining piano classes and the composition with Nikolai Aladov, and also works as an accompanist in the opera theater, because the time is difficult and you need to somehow feed yourself.

In the city destroyed by the fascists, the building needs to be built again - and he manages this construction: he defends a place in the very center of the rebel from the ruin of the city, carefully monitors the development of the project, delving into every detail - where it comes to music, there are no trifles. Then Bogatyrev heads the department of composition.Of the now residents - Leonid Zakhlevny, Viktor Politik, Galina Gorelova, Oleg Khodyosko ...

Bogatyrev cared about his students, defended them, shore, supplied money, if necessary, and most importantly, introduced all the new products that his friends, which also became the classics: Khachaturian, Shostakovich, Kabalevsky, Leman ... and the word to the music return ... Anatoly Bogatyrev appreciated the Belarusian folklore, folk song, national poetry, inspired by the verses of Maxim Bogdanovich, Yankee Kupala, Yakub Kolas, Petrus Brovka, Maxim Tank, collaborated with other modern poets.

In the Kantat “Belarusian Songs” he combined folklore texts and poems by Neil Gilevich, the future folk poet of Belarus. Teacher and student composer Yevgeny Glebov came to enter the Belarusian State Conservatory, without even knowing the notes, on the advice of the famous Tsymbalist and conductor Joseph Zhinovich, who noticed a talented young man. Anatoly Bogatyrev, who was then the rector, saw the nugget and accepted it into his class.

And when the young man in the first course became seriously ill, he allowed him to stay in the second year. Glebov graduated from the conservatory with a red diploma, his name was among the Belarusian classics. The craving for music and literature in Bogatyrev lived simultaneously: he was literary gifted no less than musically. Anatoly Bogatyrev is called the "End Man", and it is difficult to argue with this.

Unlike many large masters who are not endowed with genuine pedagogical talent and able to make from students only dozens of their weak similarities, Bogatyrev discovered another great gift: to protect the individuality of everyone.
