Avtantil Israfilov Biography

A whole era of Azerbaijani music is associated with his name. Israfilov not only played an amazingly harmony, but also composed magnificent musical works. He was born in Baku on January 24 of the year, after school he entered the faculty of civil construction of the Polytechnic Institute, which today became Azerbaijani Technical University, but did not work out, completely devoting himself to his beloved instrument.

I never studied the notes, had no idea about them, said Avtandil. With his unique skill in the game of harmony, he quickly gained true folk love, performed the composition of the ensembles "Azerbaijan Taranalari", "Araz". Avtantil Israfilov and Zeynab Khanlanov, a special page in his creative formation was cooperation with the singer Zeynab Khanlarova. He conquered a lot of Soviet listeners to his lyrical soprano, mainly in Central Asia and the Caucasus, and they especially loved Khanlarova’s music in Yerevan, where her concerts were held with unchanged Angolos.

For a year, she became the artistic director of the ensemble of folk instruments, where Kadimov played on the Clarnet, on the Nagar of Sadykh Zarbaliev, on Tara Zamik Aliyev, on Kemanch adalate vezirov, on the ude Ibrahim Kasumov, and on the harmonies Avtantil Israfilov. All of them made the Khanlarova ensemble famous and beloved by several generations of Soviet people.

He was an unusually generous man. Then there were no expensive cars to the riders, and there were no riders themselves, so even the most beloved and honored artists drove on ordinary Soviet buses on mountain roads. Having received at the wedding from grateful admirers a fee for the performance, Israfilov, having drove away by the bus, could just throw the money out the window with the words: in the morning some shepherd will take place here, find the money and will be happy, he will be able to buy something of his family, children.

The merits of Avtandil Israfilov is the author of more than a hundred musical works. For merits in the development of the Azerbaijani school of performing art, he was awarded the title of People's Artist of Azerbaijan in the year, awarded the Order of Shuthrat in the year. Since the year, he was an honorary scholarship holder of the President of Azerbaijan.

He starred in the films "Mehella", "Mehella in Moscow", "Folk Melodies". Today, his most famous and grateful student, talented harmonist Orkhan Mirzoev. In general, many people wanted to become his students, but he was forced to refuse: I regret that because of a lack of time I could not pay attention to the young generation.
