We were not looking for “ceremonial” portrait pictures, but alive - with a plot, with history, with heroes. Today we will talk about Maria Yakhnovets, which the Germans stole to work in Germany. The granddaughter of Maria Yakhnovets - Tyumenka Maria Milanova - gave us the recorded memoirs of her grandmother. Maria Yakhnovets was 17 years old when she was taken away from the Belarusian village of Beloush.

The girl got to the camp in the city of Libstadt, she lived in a hut and worked at the factory that issued shells. It was mainly Balanda, but it also happened that they gave bread. I remember very well how one day we were welded from whole frog soup. Even despite the terrible hunger, I could not eat this soup. In the year, typhoid began in the camp. I also fell ill.

I was thrown into the insulator in which there was an iron bed, and water dripped from the tap. No doctors came, of course, they did not give medicines. The door was not opened. Only sometimes the warders of the camp looked in the window, to make sure that I died. From high temperature, I lost consciousness, came to my senses for a while, reached the tap to drink, and turned off again.

How many times this happened, I do not remember. Probably, I was just lucky - I survived, - recalled Maria Yakhnovets. In Germany, Maria Yakhnovets had to spend two and a half years a source: the girl was given to Maria Milanova in the year under the bombing, this happened at the railway station, which workers were driven to load the boxes. There was no fear, as she recalled later, there was no: hunger overpassed him.

Each of us began to grab what we can. The bombing continued for some time, shells fell to the ground, funnels formed, boxes of food fell into them. Without fear, I jumped into this very funnel and managed to grab a large jar of apple jam, which fell out of the box, ”recalls Maria Yakhnovets. Prisoners of the camp were fed, most of all Mary remembered the bites of milk.

The photo was taken in Germany about a month after the release. Located girls were given the clothes by local residents. Maria Yakhnovets - in the photo on the left, the source: provided by Maria Milovanova after the transfer to the Soviet troops released in commodity cars and sent home. In the year, Maria married, she lived in Belarus all her life, one of her daughters moved to Yamal, and her granddaughter Maria now lives in Tyumen.

We already talked about the archival photograph in which the Tyumen found out their grandfather, about the front -line soldier from the Kurgan region, who felt sorry for the German, and about the Tyumen, who accidentally met his father in a military hospital. If you have such photos, write to us by editorial mail RU 72 Rugion. The country should see the history of the people who has a victory.
