Pavel Nagibin Biography
Unfortunately, I cannot list several more large players of the telecommunications market, with whom intense negotiations are underway at the beginning of May. I think it will pass for several months and this list will expand pretty much. Tell us about the most interesting projects implemented by your company in recent years? The prefix based on Android meets all the requirements that are put forward to modern TV platforms.
Construction of the data center for one of the Internet providers in Moscow. Prior to this, we were engaged only in container centers and this was our first but not the last experience in the construction of a stationary data center. Development of devices for monitoring and supply of ATM power for one of the system -forming banks of the Russian Federation. Production and supply of spectral sealing equipment for one of the mobile operators of the Russian Federation.
The operator experienced a lack of fibers to the base stations, and to increase the channel capacity, we used the CWDM systems for sealing the channels on its network throughout the country. Development and supply of power and reservation systems for one of the largest data centers in the country. With the help of our controlled blocks of sockets and load switches, the data center reserves power supply for server racks and controls the power of servers.
Production of optical equipment for organizing communication channels for a network of data centers in Moscow. Are there many competitors in Russia in Russia? How does your company stand out against their background? Pavel Nagibin: competitors ... If you do not affect the "ordinary" sales of the B2B, it seems to me that in our sector in the Russian market there is not too serious competition.
More precisely, there is, of course, of course, but we so competently built a business and defended ourselves from most risks that it is difficult to talk about serious competitors who could move us in the market. We rather look at them as at colleagues, with whom it has not yet been able to establish commercial relations. This is especially noticeable in the niche of "medium" solutions.
But “climb” to this level from scratch, or with the capabilities of a small company is very, very difficult. And even almost impossible - there is a abyss that cannot be overcome "in steps." A prevailing team of professionals in several dozen people is required, from developers and designers to installers and managers with specific experience - these are months, and rather years of work without special economic returns ...
Only then can you take on serious projects. For years, we invested a significant part of our profit in this basis, and now we have the opportunity that many of our competitors are deprived of: to take risks, mastering other directions, as well as attract a large number of youth to the ranks of employees. Thanks to this, huge resources that many companies spend on endless “wars” with competitors, we can calmly invest in the development and development of other systems and directions.
In addition to the Russian market, the "nag" is also represented abroad. What countries do you work in? What are the features of work in foreign markets? The main part of the foreign business is the EAS countries. The last year we have been actively developing the African market: we work through partners, we participate in exhibitions. So far, this is only the beginning: both the telecom market and IT are slightly different, but we see the demand for our solutions, such as IoT, in the South African market.
Operators like in the Russian Federation, there is no more with the exception of Ukraine. In other countries, everything is monopolized and concentrated in the hands of a couple of the largest players. Therefore, we have to look for niches in industrial automation, "Internet of things", video surveillance and safety systems, or energy. And here again the experience becomes important, and the basis that I already spoke above.
We begin to see some general systemic trends that are inherent in the telecommunication industry of a country under the guise of seemingly completely unique conditions. And we can offer such ideas and solutions that our customers in another country allow you to get a competitive advantage simply because they are based on the long -term stages of similar problems in other countries.
How do you feel about import substitution policy? Did this state course affect your business? Pavel Nagibin: Import substitution is a difficult topic. С одной стороны понятно, что чем больше в стране производится своего, тем больше высокооплачиваемых рабочих мест, налогов, выше уровень жизни региона и страны. On the other hand, the Russian market is objectively very small.
And network technologies are actively developing, new protocols and their versions come out. It is worthy to implement a network stack yourself is a difficult task that requires the effort of a large team of developers, testers, network engineers and an already formed client base to identify real user problems. Not the time when users are ready to be beta testers on their network-competition is too high.
There are several commercial organizations in the world that professionally develop a protocol stack. In order to save time, resources and money, many world manufacturers of network equipment around the world go along the path of purchasing already implemented trusted software components. If you do them yourself, then ... it is difficult to imagine the number of necessary resources.
These are dozens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars - moreover, without any chance of returning them. Is it worth it? So, we try to adhere to common sense - to do what is profitable. At the same time, 18 people work in the development department, 16 people in the assembly, and 14 people in the development of software. In many ways, problems with import substitution are seen in a certain ambivalence occupied by the state.
It seems that import substitution is needed, but no guarantees of business-only weak promises of something good someday. There will be a clear appeal of the state with understandable support, or maybe even - and the provision - and our engineers in a short time will be able to develop and replace almost any product. The price of such efforts for ordinary development in the real conditions of our market is disproportionately high, and simply never pays off.
What role in building a business do you assume personnel issues? Do you have a lot of youth? As you solve issues with the training of new employees - because the specialists of your profile, there are not so many on the labor market. Pavel Nagibin: Personnel decide everything. This phrase, entrenched in the minds since the 10ths of the last century, has not lost its relevance to this day.
People are the most valuable resource of any company operating in the field of high technology. Who does not understand this, just leaves the market. We not only well understand this maxim, but also consider the personnel issue to be critical, and maybe - fundamental. We have a lot of young people - the average age of the employee barely exceeds the bar of 30 years. It is easier for young people to navigate in huge streams of information, they are easier to study and are more prone to creative search for solutions to complex problems.
We try to encourage people in their personal professional growth in every possible way. We have ties with specialized educational institutions, we regularly invite students to industrial practice or simply to excursions on the office, during which we explain the goals and mission of the company. We provide information and technical support in organizing competitions conducted among students.
The problem with a lack of qualified specialists is solved in the simplest and most effective way: we ourselves teach new employees. For this, the company has a specialized unit organizing regular training courses for employees. And this is not just a course of lectures - each "student" will certainly pass the exam. In the future, as a rule, those who leave the company for any reason still remain in the industry-that is, we contribute to the preparation process for the Russian telecom.
I know that now the company holds the CRO conference annually, the technical seminar "Nugot", short training courses for certain brands of equipment. Is it planned to develop this area of activity in the future? And if so, how? Pavel Nagibin: I have already said earlier that we are considering the mission of our company much wider than just making a profit. The consolidation of market participants in matters requiring a systematic approach, the saturation of the industry with qualified personnel, the desire to increase the qualifications of the average Russian technical specialist, forces us to look for other formats and methods of communicating with all the signalmen of Russia and the countries of the near abroad.
And observing how the audience of each of our events is growing from year to year. Cros will take order of the participants in the year, the “Academy of the Nagus” - order, we understand that the course is chosen correctly, and that we will no longer be able to abandon this mission, even if we had such a desire. However, our desires and market requests here are surprisingly coincide, and therefore there is new seminars, training courses and webinars.
What are the plans for the further development of the company? What directions will be priority for you in the coming years? Pavel Nagibin: Technologies are being improved, speeds are growing, Internet traffic consumption is growing, the requirements of corporate IT systems are complicated. Other directions appear in the form of video analytics based on machine learning, the Internet of things, artificial intelligence.
It seems like not new topics, hype has been going on for several years, however, real business consumption has appeared, in our opinion, recently. Our current projects are in support of: industrial safety in an energy holding based on video analytics systems; analytics of the work of employees and their interaction with visitors in the federal network of communication salons; Building a data collection system based on Lorawan technology for the federal telecom operator; Building a technology control system based on Lorawan technology for agro -industrial holding.
Complex, large, financially costly topics. Their development will hardly bring us profit from the first or even second project. But ... there is no other way out. We must follow modern trends. In general, in IT, how can I easily feel the words of Alice from the novel by Lewis Carroll: you need to run with all legs in order to stay in place, and in order to get somewhere, you need to run, at least twice as fast!
